Pittsburgh: East Busway is example of highest level of modern "BRT", clearly providing transit users advantages over local bus service contesting with other motor vehicle traffic. However, wide right-of-way needed for safe highspeed bus operation is disadvantage compared with LRT. Also, ridership has reportedly not met expectations. While 80,000 daily rider-trips were originally projected, only about 30,000 have materialized.
